Mercy

A child's take on mother's love

‘MERCY’, with its child view of the world, underlines the contradictions of mother’s love and invites us all to re-examine issues related to lone parents, poverty, mental health, fostering, adoption and the law.

Funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Lottery Funding, Morancho Films and Tres Tornillos Producciones, completed with the support of BFI Net.Work and Ffilm Cymru Wales

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

‘MERCY’ through the mind of a child, explores themes of good mother’s-bad mother’s love, lone parents, young carers, looked after children, adoption of fostered children and its connection to unprivileged families and mental health. I believe this is a subject presently in need of an artistic response, one that can engage the general public as much as the health professionals and bring about further discussions and awareness. My first stop is looking into the childhood experiences of young carer who ends in foster care..
